WHAT IS ACTIVISM?
WHAT DOES ACTIVISM LOOK LIKE?

Identify
Step 1Step 1
First, find an issue you’re passionate about. (This is vital because if you don’t feel passionate about a topic, you probably won’t do the leg work required to become a subject matter expert)
–

Research
Step 2Step 2
Research the topic and gain a better understanding of the challenges and the opportunities that surround this topic.
–
–

Develop
Step 3Step 3
Develop an alternative to the current conditions you seek to change. (Sometimes we don’t think of solutions right away, or there may not be a simple answer, and that’s ok. If that is the case, skip to step 5)
–

Seek
Step 4Step 4
Seek trusted advisors to help you thoroughly vet your proposed solution.
–
–
–

Reflect
Step 5Step 5
Take a moment to self-reflect and identify how much time and energy you are willing to dedicate to this cause.
–
–

Synergy
Step 6Step 6
Identify other people or groups who are passionate, or who are mobilizing around this topic and share similar interest. (Hopefully, you could create some synergies.)
–

Activate
Step 7Step 7
Activate! You can decide to dedicate your entire life to the cause, or just a half an hour a day. But whether the issue is child hunger, police brutality, or income disparity you must move from the conceptual fight and put “boots” on the ground.
